The Challenge
MMD, a global supplier of mining and quarrying equipment, set out to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and respond to increasing client expectations around emissions reporting. With operations across multiple continents, including five manufacturing facilities, MMD faced a lack of visibility into their carbon footprint and a need to understand their most significant emission sources.
In order to stay competitive and meet the evolving standards of the mining industry, MMD needed an expert partner to help them calculate a global carbon baseline and build a practical, achievable roadmap to Net Zero.
“It’s only when you begin the process that you realise how much there is to do. We recommend starting early. It gives you the best opportunity to meet your goals.”

Our Solution
Go-Positive provided structured, expert support through its Road to Net Zero (R2NZ) programme. Led by Chief Carbon Coach Eoin McQuone and his team, the process began with a thorough carbon footprint assessment across MMD’s offices and manufacturing sites. Data collection and analysis were streamlined through Go-Positive’s portal and dashboard, which enabled MMD to track emissions by site, energy usage, equipment lifecycle, and other key factors.
The Go-Positive team guided MMD every step of the way—from interpreting raw data to identifying emission hotspots. A comprehensive and tailored roadmap was created, setting out short-, medium-, and long-term actions for the business to implement across its operations.
“The process has been great—Eoin and the team have been incredibly helpful. The tools, data crunching and advice were all invaluable, and the online portal made everything easier. We’ve had support across time zones and want to keep GCP involved in our journey.”

The Results
With Go-Positive’s support, MMD successfully established a complete global carbon baseline for the year 2023. Emissions data was not only calculated at a corporate level but also broken down by each individual facility, helping local teams understand their specific impact and opportunities for reduction.
The partnership enabled MMD to move quickly from strategy to action. Initial changes focused on achievable, low-barrier improvements such as converting to LED lighting and promoting paperless workspaces. Building on that foundation, the company has already begun installing solar panels and introducing electric vehicles into their operations. Go-Positive also provided custom data-gathering templates to support future reporting efforts.
To build internal engagement, Green Committees were formed at each facility. These teams are now helping to champion sustainability at a local level, ensuring that carbon reduction becomes embedded in everyday business practices.
MMD found the partnership highly valuable, particularly in the clarity and confidence it provided. With structured tools, expert advice, and an easy-to-use online portal, the business now has both the understanding and the resources it needs to move forward.
